12 Week Check Up

Eva had her 2/3 month check up this morning. She was 6 lbs 3 oz at birth and had dropped to 5 lbs 11 oz by the time we left the hospital. The last time we took her to the doctor was two months ago at her 2 wk check up. At that check up, she had regained the weight she lost after birth and was up to 6 lbs 7 oz (a gain of about an ounce a day). At her check up today, she weighed in at 13 lbs 3 oz!!! That means she's averaged about 2 ounces a day for the last two and a half months! The doctor was quite impressed considering how small she was at birth and how early she was born :) She is in the 75% for weight and the 25% for height (22 3/4 inches), so wonderfully chubby, just like all our other babies :) She is also ahead of where she's supposed to be developmentally as she has been smiling at us since Christmas and she obviously watches her brother and sisters play. She coos at us and Megan and Kylie insist that she says "Mom" already. I'm not convinced she knows what she's saying, but it sure sounds like it! She grasps things all the time, especially my clothing or hair, and holds onto it. She is supposed to "start being able to distinguish Mom from others", which she has very obviously been able to do for quite a while. We are so blessed that everything turned out so well!!!
