Kylie brought home an assignment from school for the whole family. We were given a picture of a stocking to decorate, so we picked finger paints. Everyone picked a different color. It was a lot of fun :)
A few days ago it was career day at school. Each child was supposed to dress for what they want to be when they grow up. Megan wanted to dress like a mom, so we fashioned a sling for her to carry a doll in all day. Kylie originally wanted to dress as a cowboy, but we couldn't find the one cowboy hat we have and she doesn't have anything else cowboy, so we went with her second choice - a zookeeper. I wasn't quite sure how to create a zookeeper outfit, so we found a monkey with velcro hands and hung it around her neck (by the end of the day, she and her classmates decided it was funnier to have the monkey be around her leg) and made her a nametag stating she was "Kylie, Zookeeper".
I foolishly left the leftover candy from the gingerbread houses out on the counter in closed containers. I walked into the kitchen to find this ~
This was taken after decorating the gingerbread houses. Beth and Jack were both sitting on my lap :)
This morning I got the girls dressed in pj's to go to school in as we got a notice stating it was Polar Express day. Rob dropped them off and during our conversation as he was driving to work (he calls every day so we can read scriptures together - it allows us to read together without having to get up earlier) he mentioned that no other kids seemed to be wearing pj's. I called the school and discovered that Polar Express day is only for kindergarten. Beth and Jack and I brought Megan a change of clothes. We had a good rest of the morning - we went to a friend's house to visit and then picked up lunch to take to Rob (TX BBQ from Sonny Bryan's - as seen on Food Network - one of Rob's favorites). After we got home, Jack disappeared. I couldn't find him anywhere. We have locks on the doors and the only one that wasn't locked was the back door (so we could let Simon out). He wasn't anywhere in the house and wasn't in the backyard (the gate out of the backyard is padlocked shut). I finally found him. He had crawled through a hole in the fence the neighbor's dogs had made into the neighbor's backyard and was happily playing. So I find Jack, stop hyperventilating, and get Jack and Beth ready to go to school to pick up the older girls. About half way to school, Jack trips and falls on his face on the sidewalk. I pick him up and he cuddles up on my shoulder with his arm around my neck, so I keep walking. We get to school and he lifts up his head from my shoulder and I discover that his face and hands and my shoulder are covered in blood. He split his lip open - not badly enough to need stitches or anything, but enough to make quite a mess. I think we are staying inside with the door locked for the rest of the day. Who voted me responsible adult anyway??? I need a nap!
Jack's lip - he hit it right in the middle of his upper lip ~
