Thanksgiving and 1st Bath

We had a very low-key Thanksgiving this year. Rob's sister, Kate, flew down to spend the week with us. The girls had the week off of school and Rob had two weeks of paternity leave, so we were all home :) It was wonderful to just be able to relax most of the time as just cooking Thanksgiving dinner wiped me out.

Megan started off our morning by making monkey bread, the recipe for which came from her Paula Deen cookbook, which I highly recommend :)

Beth and Jack helped by shaking the pieces of biscuit in the cinnamon sugar

Megan was thrilled when we let her cut up vegetables with a "big" knife!

Kylie preferred to watch tv

While the turkey was cooking, we made apple turkeys. Albertsons didn't have any gumdrops when Kate and I went shopping the day before, so we used gummi bears and candy corn instead. The candy corn didn't work very well and kept falling apart when we tried sticking toothpicks through it, so we ate it instead.

Rob held Eva and played on the computer

Kylie's (she even made a gobbler out of a red gummi bear)

Jack went for the "the more toothpicks and gummi bears, the better" approach

The day after Thanksgiving we let Megan switch her earrings for the first time. She had picked out the ones she wanted to wear first a long time ago - butterflies on hook earrings. After we put them in, Dad pointed out how easy it would be for them to catch on something and get ripped out and Kate backed him up with stories from her preschool, so we took a picture and then switched to stud earrings.

The day after Thanksgiving, Eva's cord fell off, so she got her first bath. She is still so tiny that the little tub we got from the hospital was more than big enough to fit her, so we just used that instead of our baby bathtub. All four kids came in to watch - apparently it was very exciting :)

Eva hated it at first . . .

but as soon as she was in the warm water, covered with a washcloth, she loved it :) Another water-baby, just like our other four :)

Today we noticed that Eva's feet were poking out from the bottom of her preemie-sized outfit. When I tried changing her into the outfit she wore home from the hospital (we only have a few preemie-sized outfits, so we've been washing them often), it was actually a bit small on her!!! Yay!!! She's now in newborn sized clothes!!! Her first check up is Thursday, so we'll see how much weight she's gained :)
