Sing, Sing a Song

I am finally getting back in the habit of singing to the kids at bedtime. It is one of my favorite times of the day. Here are a few highlights from tonight's singing -

I asked Jack and Eva what songs they wanted me to sing. Jack asked me to sing the song from "Moshi Monsters". I admitted that I didn't know it and asked him to pick another song. He asked if I knew the theme song from "Planes". Again, I wasn't familiar with it. He sighed and asked if I knew the theme song from Phineas and Ferb. I had at least heard that one, but couldn't remember much past the first line. With another long suffering sigh, Jack remarked "why don't you just give me a list of songs you DO know?" At least Eva was happy; her favorites are "Jesus wants me for a sunBEAM" and "Popcorn popping on the apricot tree", repeated as many times as she can convince me to sing them.  She and Jack both enthusiastically join in each time.

Beth and Kylie have a different list of songs. Several of them are old camp songs that I remember from Girls' Camp. They love to sing the echo part of "Suitors" with me; that's Kylie's favorite song. She knows it as the "song about fish and dying". Beth loves the Elegant's version of "Twinkle, twinkle little star" from the 50's. Other than that, they usually just ask me to pick songs.

Megan's favorite has always been the same - "Part of your world" from the Little Mermaid. I was surprised, but I still remembered the whole thing. Laura made it more interesting by insisting on inserting a rubber frog into my mouth as a sang. She laughed and laughed at it though, which made it totally worth it :)

I love being a mom! No matter what else I do with my life, being a mom will always be my greatest accomplishment :)
