Laura had her six month check up today (she'll be 6 months old on Saturday! Eek!). She is currently in the 45% for both weight and length. I don't remember how long she is, but she's 15lbs 10oz. Shes way ahead developmentally though as she's not supposed to be sitting or up on all fours yet. Doesn't surprise me - all our kids except Kylie started crawling around six months old. She's not usually very interested in eating anything except breastmilk, but tonight she ate almost a whole bag (baby food now comes in cool bags with a straw thingy on the end - it's the equivalent of a small baby food jar) of peaches! She smiles and smiles at everyone as long as I'm holding her and we get all sorts of complements about how happy she is :)
The kids have been cracking me up this week, as usual. Yesterday Rob had the youngest four home by himself while I was running some errands. Laura was super fussy, so when Jack asked him for a bowl of cereal, Rob couldn't jump up and get it right away. Jack got upset about it, so Beth responds, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "Keep whining Jack and that bowl of cereal will just pop up out of nowhere. Whining makes everything better."
Beth has been using her doctor kit that she got for Christmas every time anyone gets hurt. Eva tripped and fell and Beth checked her out, announcing "Wow! Your heart is beating the fastest I've ever heard! You're just dandy." Later, Kylie requested that Beth take her blood pressure. I didn't see what Beth actually did to fulfill that request, but I heard her remarking "Your blood is having a PAR-TAY in there, Kylie!"
Rob tells the kids stories from his past every
night before bed. This week, it's been an ongoing saga about how he and
I met. They got the end of the story tonight. Kylie's response was "so
what happened? Did it work out?" Yeah, I think so ;)
Best excepts from Beth's homework last week,
which was to list the books she's read and the topics she discussed with
us regarding them:
Stuart Little - we discussed the biological
probability of a human woman producing a mouse child and the
possibility of cross species production of children
Charlotte's Web - the father's penchant for "killing tiny pigs" was explored
I think I've been in grad school too long . . . and Beth rocks :)
And, drumroll please . . .
I have an interview with one of my top two choices for internship sites on Friday!!! I'm interviewing at LifeSTAR Dallas :) Wish me luck!!!
