Helen Keller aka Megan

Every year at our school the third grade does a project called "Living Library" wherein each student is a historical character. The students spend weeks studying their individual, then compile a report. They decorate a poster at home and at the end of the project, they dress up as their character and give a short presentation on them. Parents and family are invited to one showing and then the present it to the other students.

Megan chose Helen Keller. We've had a lot of fun learning about her and discussing sign language and braille. Megan made her poster on Monday, with only a little help from me :) Today was the presentation, so we got up early, helped Megan get into her outfit (which was pretty basic - I did not go all out, which I worried about until I got there and discovered that most costumes were pretty basic - although a few parents went WAY beyond what I did - George Washington had a full wig made of cotton balls and a very fancy outfit), and got the other kids up and dressed as well. Rob took Meg and Kylie to school. The rest of us finished getting ready and headed off to see Megan. Megan did a wonderful job!

'Helen' looks just lovely! I actually did Helen Keller for my live report too once upon a time, great minds must think alike! ;) Looks like fun, can't wait for Sydney to get there...
