Tidbits

Eva rolled from front to back today. She is growing up so fast! She's also started insisting on sitting up rather than lying down. She tries to get up on all fours, but as soon as she gets up on her knees, her little elbows buckle and she pitches face-first into the ground. That doesn't seem to deter her much though and she keeps trying to crawl by wiggling her little bum and moving her legs, which only pushes her face back into the floor. We have to give her props for trying so hard though!

She has started tasting foods. Her favorites so far are coconut pineapple ice cream (Haagen-Dazs - fantastic flavor :) ), fruit sorbets, and pickles. When I take out my little pint of ice cream or sorbet or a fruit popsicle, she gets very excited, enthusiastically waves her arms and tries to grab it. I think she's teething . . . all of the foods she likes are cold (the pickle had been refrigerated). She doesn't eat much, but she likes tasting whatever I'm eating.

Jack is developing into quite the charmer. He has, at the age of 3, apparently figured out that flattery will get you most things you want from females. He comes over and says things like "you're the best mom EVER . . . can I have some jelly beans???" and he never fails to compliment my cooking every night, which I find humorous on nights when it's something he doesn't like. He has taken to calling me "baby" and refers to Brittney as "my aunt". He loves gymnastics and can't wait to play soccer next year.

Beth continues to express her amazing imagination. Monday, as we were driving to the grocery store, she told me about "car land", where there are cars instead of people. Apparently we get to visit there when we ride in the car. She is convinced that Taylor Swift is actually Brittney's sister, Becca. Beth's characteristic determination continues to make disagreeing with an idea she develops difficult. Changing her opinion is a long, drawn-out process in which I basically have to present scientifically certifiable proof that my statement is correct.

Kylie is loving soccer and is doing an amazing job as goalie. At every single game, at least two adults come up to me and tell me what a great goalie Kylie is. I've also overheard comments by the parents of girls on the opposing team comment about it and some of the saves she's made have been cheered for by the opposing team's parents as well as our team. As we walked to our car after last night's game, Kylie's coach passed us and said "Kylie, I think you were born to play goalie!"

Megan's art class is almost over. I think she is planning on taking a cooking class in the fall, but we've heard about a free art class once a month at a local library, so we're going to check that out as well. Meg is definately a pre-teen, with all the emotional reactions that come with that title. This new aspect of parenting is definately different than the infant, toddler, or little kid stage, but we're learning :) Megan is really close to Rob and they have a wonderful friendship, so he is often able to talk to her when she has melt-downs, which is helpful. She continues to be an amazing loving and caring girl and blows us away with the things she does for the rest of us :) Tonight the kids didn't clean up when they were supposed to, so they "lost" many of their toys. Megan used up all the points she had earned doing chores to buy back her siblings' toys.
