Surprise! (for me anyway)

First a picture of Beth in the Dora outfit Molly and Brian got her ~

I got the rest of her birthday presents on video, but can't figure out how to get them to upload onto my blog. If you want to see the video, email me :)

Our big news for this week is that I have a new job at church. For the last year I have taught Sunday school to the eleven to twelve year old girls. I loved it and this year they moved me to the ten to eleven year old girls. The first Sunday I taught my new class, our Bishop (sort of like a priest) asked to speak with me. He told me they were rearranging the Relief Society presidency. The RS is the women's organization. Each of our organizations are headed by a president, two counselors and a secretary. He asked me to be one of the counselors. I have worked in Primary (the children's organization) and Young Women's (the girls' youth organization), but the last (and only) time I was involved in RS was before I was married. This calling was very much a surprise to me! The other three women I'm working with are awesome though and I'm excited to have this opportunity :) Any advice though would be welcome as I have no idea what I'm doing :) Fortunately the lady who filled this role before me is a good friend and is helping me tremendously.

In other news, my class started yesterday. This quarter I'm only taking one class (two is full-time) - Intro to Marriage and Family Therapy. My other classes have all been classes everyone in counseling took; this will be the first specific to my field. It looks like the work is spread out a bit in this class. Instead of having two assignments due every Thursday, I have one due each Wednesday and one due each Friday. There are two major projects that we work on throughout the term. The first project involves interviewing another classmate utilizing various approaches and analyzing that interview. The second project focuses on the movie "Bend it Like Beckham" and analyzing the family in it. Several of my classes have used movies as case studies, which I have found very interesting. It has changed the way I watch movies :)
