One More

Rob on the phone with his best friend ~
Wayne: So what's new?
Rob: Well, I had another kid.
Wayne: Again???

And some photos that explain why we keep having kids ;)

Rob "watching" Laura for me ~

Cute little baby bum in the air! :)

Megs and Laura cuddling ~

Eva reading to Laura while Laura's in the bumbo seat ~

Isn't Beth just FABULOUS??? :)

Recent Status Updates

Haven't done this for a while . . .

Laura and I have a psychic connection.
Me (thinking to myself): Laura's out, it's getting late. I should go to bed.
Laura: Must wake up immediately! Hiccup, hiccup, hiccup.
Me: Ok, guess I'll watch a show instead.
Laura: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

(Laura at midnight)

 Rob: Why is Eva crying?
Beth: She hurt her cranium. And her phalanges.

My kids rock :)

Even after 6 children, I still wonder how I got so lucky as to be the one who gets sleepy smiles at 1am and gets to hear little snores coming from another little munchkin who woke up and needed me and is now curled up asleep next to me ♥

I lost the plug thingy to my wireless mouse last night. We searched the whole house and couldn't find it. We found it this afternoon after the kids got home from school. It was in Jack's sock. That he put on this morning and wore through the whole school day. Of course. Why didn't I think to check before he left for school?

Kylie: What tv shows did you watch when you were little?
Me: We didn't watch much tv.
Kylie: Oh, you played on the computer?
Me: We didn't have a computer until I was in high school.
Kylie: WHAT??? Then what did you DO all day???

Rob's random fact for the night ~

Did you know that potato bugs are crustaceans?

Gotta love those nights when you really need chocolate and you see a small box of chocolates on a shelf and think "score!!!" only to open them and discover the box is full of acorns and dead bugs . . . she'd better make a lot of money as an entomologist one day!

I typed "The Maltese Falcon" into the netflix search bar. Results included: "The Walking Dead", "The Office", "Dora", and "The Backyardigans". Yes, all of those jump to mind when I think of the Maltese Falcon . . .

Anyone who thinks majoring in voice in college for a year wouldn't be helpful in raising children never lived in a two story home without an intercom system.

Rob plugs in his Nintendo 64.
Beth: WHAT is THAT???
Rob: This is a game system.
Beth: From WHEN?
Rob: The time of the dinosaurs.

Love is giving the rest of your lollipop to your one year old because she bit hers and it's now gone :)

When is it not good that you taught your 1 year old to share? When she starts eating toilet paper and tries to insist that you and your 8 wk old eat some too . . .

Megan recommended that I use stilts to get around the house . . . she meant crutches, but stilts would be more amusing I think :)

Only in TX would your child (obviously not a REAL Texan, or she wouldn't have thought twice about it) come running upstairs to tell us that there are a bunch of guys standing in our front yard with guns, resulting in your husband running downstairs . . . not because he was worried, but because he wanted to see what kind of guns they were . . . (teenagers with paintball guns btw). TX may not officially be a different country, but it sure is a completely different universe!

Pretty sure the frosting in double stuf oreos is part crack . . .

How you know it's not your first child ~ your baby has been in the same onesie for 36 hours because she hasn't pooped on it yet and you know better than to jinx things by putting her in a new outfit . . .

And finally, a picture of Laura and Daddy ~

Two Months Old!!!

Laura got very frustrated that she was just sitting there and not going somewhere. She is the first child we remember trying to crawl on their own before two months. She's already figured out how to squirm over to us on the bed if we're close to her. She decided she'd had enough of propping herself up for my photos and she wanted to go somewhere else, so she did . . .

"See Mom? I figured out how to move on my own!"

And a Couple of Random Pictures

Laura was on the floor next to me while I was cutting fabric to make the halloween costumes. Jack sat down next to her and talked and talked to her. She loved it and happily watched him play for quite a while!

Laura has been smiling and smiling at us this week :) I love it! She has the hugest grin, which I keep trying to catch on camera.

Finally caught it! My friend Karla Sue says it's bigger than Laura's face :)

A Long Time Ago . . .

In a galaxy far, far away . . .

R2D2 (Laura), Padme (Megan), Yoda - minus the ears (Eva), Obi Wan Kenobi (Kylie), Luke (Jack), and Leia (Beth)

And a full shot of R2's costume, plus Yoda as she saw me taking a picture and needed to be in it :)

Painting Pumpkins

Megan showing off her water that she managed to turn olive green, a color she informed the rest of the kids "is the most beautiful color in the world, although some people think it's ugly".

Finished pumpkins!

Glad I took her clothes off first!

Love this shot of Eva!

Nailed It!

Pinterest is full of photos of perfectly made crafts and foods, most of which are supposedly simple to make. I think the women who make them have DNA made of ribbon and crafting glue. I love the posts made by people who attempted to copy something off Pinterest and totally messed it up. Usually those pictures are sarcastically captioned with "nailed it!" For example ~

Anyway, I try and get Laura and Eva to take naps at the same time each morning so I can nap too, especially as Laura has colic, which almost always hits around midnight and lasts for an hour or two. I always go into naptime with a Norman Rockwall attitude, picturing both girls drifting off to sleep happily, curled up against me. Unfortunately, the girls do not usually share my idea of a perfect naptime.

Today was a bit more challenging than normal. Laura was asleep, but when I tried putting her down next to me so I could cuddle with Eva too, she woke up and decided she was starving. Eva was exhausted and started drifting off to sleep, then Laura needed to be burped and that woke Eva up. As her tummy was now full, Laura was tired again, but random pokes and kicks by a tired and grumpy Eva woke Laura up. An hour after we first lay down, I was lying in bed with Laura squirming around next to me and Eva next to her (she usually wants to sleep next to Laura as Laura is her favorite person in the whole world), lying on her back waving her feet in the air chanting "bee-da-boo, bee-da-bay". It was not the nap I had hoped for. Eva rolled over and started trying to play with my hair and face and discovered that if she plinked my lips with her fingers, it made a very interesting (to her, not to me) sound.

At that point the picture I posted above popped into my head and I envisioned an image of the three of us sweetly napping, followed by an image of the current situation. Nailed it! Thinking that made me laugh, which did not help things. I love my little girls! I love that I get to spend so much time with them and get to cuddle them and laugh with them :)

***********

Tonight Jack earned the opportunity to go with me to Walmart to pick up the stuff we needed to make our Halloween costumes for this year (he finished his meatloaf first - the three girls were busy taking apart their green beans and eating each bean inside individually, which takes a while). He behaved really well at the store, so after we were done we stopped at Sonic to get a treat. Jack loves maraschino cherries and whipped cream, so he asked for a drink topped with those. I asked the guy taking our order which drinks were topped with whipped cream and ended up ordering Jack a cherry creamslush. I asked if they could please make sure to put a cherry on top. They must have heard Jack in the background, because when our server brought our order, Jack's little drink was topped with seven (!) cherries! :)

Jack's nonchalant response when I handed him his drink was "Mommy, I think that girl has a crush on me. Yeah, she in lub wid (love with) me." Classic Jack :) We're in big trouble when he gets old enough to date!
