Easter

As usual, the Easter Bunny left a few presents and a note telling the kids to ask Mom for the next clue when she woke up. That way, Rob and I got to sleep in :) The Easter Bunny did not do a great job on the poems this year, but oh well.

This is what the kids found when they woke up in the morning ~

The note read:

Hello little munchkins!
I’ve heard that you like bugs
Your first gift is two bug nets
Mom has the next clue with a hug!
(But don’t wake her up or you don’t get it!)

They all gave me hugs when I got downstairs, so I gave them the next clue, which read:

You can find the next clue
Taped onto some wood
Under where a babe could sleep
Do you think this clue is good?

They quickly figured out that the next clue was under the cradle.

Beth read the cradle clue -

Forks and knives and spoons and stuff
Silver, colors, plastic
Where could you find all of this?
BTW, you’re each fantastic!

The silverware drawer held the next clue -

I know Dad’s drawer’s off limits
But just this once you can
Take a peek inside
And find the little fan.

Beth had actually found that clue earlier that morning, but she decided not to follow it until she had permission.

I heard you have a new chore
Helping Dad with clothes
First you stick them in the washer
Then where do you dry all those?

This year the Easter Bunny decided rather than fill the kids' baskets with tons of cheap toys, each child would get one toy. He even stuck to his budget! Yay! The kids opened the dryer to find a big toy for each of them. Megan got a glass chess/checkers set, Kylie got real walkie talkies, Beth got an art kit, Jack got a remote control car, and Eva got a toy shopping cart.

Something was missing though! The baskets weren't there. Instead, there was one more clue -

Are you missing something?
That’s purple, pink, and blue?
And green and white with rabbits?
Dad’s car’s your final clue!

Happy Easter!!!

They found their baskets in the back of Dad's car. Each had a few larger pieces of candy (like a reese's pb egg and a hershey's cookie and cream rabbit, and of course a full sized cadbury egg - those are my favorite!) a LED flashlight, and a small container of bubble bath.

Since no one had thrown up since Thursday night, Kiki decided it was safe to come over for dinner. We had grilled lamb, parmesan and asiago potatoes, steamed carrots, and a spinach salad, along with pan de queso (Brazilian cheese bread). For dessert, we chose between pound cake with a berry compote and whipped cream or coconut chess pie.

After dinner we dyed eggs.

Laura hung out with Rob while I took pictures.

We finished off the night with our traditional 12 eggs that tell the story of the atonement, crucifixion, and resurrection.

Easter Egg Hunt

Eva threw up last Monday night, then Megan threw up on Thursday night, so we decided to quarantine ourselves for the weekend. We did our egg hunt on Saturday. Rob and I hid 125 eggs, so each child got to find 25. We couldn't find the golden egg I bought last year, so we made due with a yellow egg.

All ready for the egg hunt to start!

I was quite impressed with this photo! All six kids looking at the camera and five of the six smiling!

Enjoying their spoils :) Each egg had 2-3 small pieces of candy (this year we used skittles, swedish fish, and white chocolate m&m's), or one mini cadbury egg, or one long balloon. We used our bicycle pump to blow up the balloons and I made poodles for each of the kids. That's about all I know how to make out of balloons :)

Random Photos

Playing catch up. Life's been busy :)

Every Friday night the kids get to have a camp out in the living room.

Megan and Eva curled up with each other in the recliner ~

Jack and Beth decided to sleep on the floor ~

Kylie fell asleep in the chair ~

Beth made me a present. She even "wrapped" it with a decorated lid and a ribbon!

Inside was a picture of a present ~

When I flipped it over, it said "I lvoe my mom!" :)

Laura enjoys feeding herself. Can you tell?

Eva was very proud that she wrapped her hair in a towel like Mom :)

Laura sometimes has a hard time settling down at night. If I rest a hand on her, she usually quiets down. Rob decided he needed to hold my hand anyway :)

Laura has figured out how to sit up on her own! She is crawling everywhere, although she is now frustrated that she can't walk. She's pulling up on things and sometimes crawls on her hands and feet in an attempt to walk.

Kylie :) Nuff said :)
